Staying Active and Involved

Recognizing the importance of staying physically and mentally active is a crucial part of our care philosophy at The Willows. We make every effort to ensure that residents engage in activities that are meaningful and enjoyable to them. We’ve observed that pre-planned social activities don’t always work as intended due to factors like residents’ willingness to participate or staff being occupied. Some find it too structured. Therefore, we aim to be flexible in supporting our residents’ interests and hobbies and offer spontaneous activities. To facilitate this, we have a full-time Lifestyle and Wellbeing coordinator.

Our coordinator dedicates her time to the residents, planning daily activities based on individual interests and preferences. Activities take place in various communal areas, with the orangery and Bistro being central hubs. Residents often enjoy activities like painting, flower arranging, and baking, and many like to join in. Families are welcome to participate and can use our Bistro Day room for refreshments. You can find our sample Activities Planner in the reception area of the home. We believe that social activities for older adults don’t need to be elaborate, just simple and enjoyable.
